GLOBALTECH RIOJA is setting up the perfect test bench for experimenting with the Clusters approach in the region. Within this framework, the GENIO technology cluster has been created.

GENIO Cluster of Companies with a Technological base

The dynamic boost given to the 9 firms which make up the Cluster of Companies with a Technological Base-GENIO, facilitated by technical support, concluded in 2008 with the design and approval of the Cluster’s Startegic Plan.

The GENIO Platform aims to become a benchmark Technology Cluster in the field of NANO-BIO-ICT, developing technology and a driving force in La Rioja. With this as its goal the Cluster seeks:

- To create a stable framework for collaboration and work, a point of encounter for the main players in the NANO-BIO-ICT sector in La Rioja.

- To focus efforts in areas with differentiation potential, by looking for the synergies between converging NANO-BIO-ICT technologies, in the field of Health and Personal Safety.

- To be a creator of value, as the locomotive force for technological development in La Rioja, achieving modernisation, or in some cases, the transformation, of the region’s companies and leading to the creation of new businesses with a technological base and a s acatalyst for the growth of the companies forming the Cluster themselves.

- To position themselves in the regional, national and international market through joint R&D+I projects.

To achieve these aims, GENIO plans conducting 3 lines of complementary actions focussed on Competitive Intelligence for the identification of emerging technologies, the identification of business opportunities and prospecting the economic and social environment so as to respond to the new needs of consumers and of society as a whole, the transfer of the knowledge and technologies produced (including their protection, exploitation and commercialisation) and the dissemination of the Cluster’s activities.
